Upcoming Movie News and Inspiration

Master Caster Interview: Kip

Hi Kip, Tell us a little about yourself!

I LOVE movies! Currently, I am attending a community college working towards an associate’s degree in liberal arts. This fall, I plan on moving to California to study film.

(Age 20, from Rochester, Minnesota)

How did you find out about the IF List?

I stumbled upon it about a year ago.

What is the first story you ever wished to be turned into a movie?

A live action version of The Lion King.

Were you happy with the cast?

Absolutely, Leonardo DiCaprio was phenomenal and is deserving of the Oscar. Tom Hardy was great too.

If you could pick one book, comic, or real life event to become a movie or TV series, what would it be and why?

Stanley Kubrick, because he was one of the most ambitious filmmakers out there. He really deserves a biopic. It would be very fascinating.

Can you tell us 2 of your favorite proposals? It can be a proposal for a character, a director, composer etc. Then tell us why you like that proposal!

1. Oscar Isaac as Stanley Kubrick

Why: I proposed Oscar Isaac as Stanley Kubrick because he is a phenomenal actor. He has played a wide spectrum of roles from Inside Llewyn Davis to Ex Machina to Star Wars. They both have similar physical appearances with the beard and such. When I first saw a picture of Stanley Kubrick, the first person that came to mind was Oscar Isaac.

2. Russell Crowe as Triton

Why: I proposed Russell Crowe as Triton because he is a terrific actor. Russell Crowe has the father figure that Triton has, he carried it very well in Man of Steel. Crowe is also a decent singer, so I think he would fit the role perfectly.

You’re a master of everything Disney! Have you always been a big Disney fan? Do you think you’ve seen every Disney movie?

I haven’t seen any of Disney’s recent works such as Frozen or Big Hero 6, but I absolutely love all their movies from the 90s including Aladdin, The Lion King, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Tarzan.

So, if you could be a Disney character, who would YOU be!?

Your proposal of Michelle Williams as Courtney Love is so perfect! Were you inspired by Michelle in the movie Blue Valentine?

Michelle Williams proposed as Courtney Love

I haven’t seen Blue Valentine, but the reason why I proposed Michelle Williams as Courtney Love is because they not only have similar physical appearances, but they also have a similar persona. Both Williams and Love are widows in a way. Love was married to Kurt Cobain, and Williams wasn’t married, but was in a serious relationship with actor, Heath Ledger.

What movie should be remade/rebooted?

A live action version of Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Tom Hooper would be an excellent fit as the director, since he previously directed a film based on a Victor Hugo novel, which was Les Miserables. The cast should include Eddie Redmayne as Quasimodo, Alicia Vikander as Esmerelda, Charlie Hunnam as Phoebus, Christoph Waltz as Frollo, and Sacha Baron Cohen as Clopin.

What upcoming movie do you want to see most?

It’s scheduled for a July 2017 release. I don’t know what it’s about, but the reason why I am super excited to see it is because it is directed by my favorite filmmaker, Christopher Nolan.

Movies or TV Shows?

Ursula or Jafar?

Thanks Kip!
