At the moment, Disney is loving live-action reboots of their classic fairytales! We can’t blame them; Maleficent and Cinderella were amazing. We’re looking forward to Beauty and the Beast and Mulan, as well as Tinkerbell! Now joining the line-up of fairytale adaptations told from a different perspective is quite a surprising choice: Prince Charming.
This movie isn’t what you’re thinking, however. We’re not going to see a back story about Robb Stark as Prince Kit Charming, or even a back story of whichever version of the Prince they wanted to bring to life (which is a lot!). According to Variety, this reboot will be centered on the Prince’s brother, who has never existed before. The other Charming is described as a “loser,” and never lived up to expectations like his dear brother. This is going to be a comedy, which makes us excited to see this new story come to life!
Since he’s never been mentioned before, it is a clean slate, leaving Disney room to do whatever they feel would best fit “Loser Charming”.
So Who Could be the Other Charming Brother?
Depending on how they want to play it, we came up with a few options.
We can’t think of anything funnier than Jonah Hill playing Loser Charming. If this were to happen, Channing Tatum would need to be a prince and it could be a fairytale version of 21 Jump Street! Perhaps it’s not the ideal Disney pair, but it would be a hilarious film! Support Jonah as Loser Charming >>
If Charming’s brother doesn’t live up to expectations because he’s a little strange, then we would have to go with Evan Peters, who has perfected that role in American Horror Story, and basically anything else he’s been in. Support Evan Peters as Loser Charming >>
Miles Teller kills it in every role he’s in, and has played the younger brother with no life ambition in The Spectacular Now. So why not in this new take on Prince Charming’s story? Support Miles Teller as Loser Charming >>
We’re excited to see where this movie goes. With relatively little information on this new member of the Charming Family, who would you like to see as the loser brother? Leave a comment and dream cast him on The IF List!
