Brace yourselves, IF Listers! We finally have images of Mulder and Scully back on the job.

EW has released the first images of The X-Files revival series, with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their famous roles, and a behind-the-scenes look at the anticipated project! Here’s what David and Gillian had to say about their characters: David says Mulder is in a “dark, dark place”, while Scully is evidently more put together. Gillian said she likes where their relationship picks up, and “I also like the area of zeitgeist that we step into. It’s on point and raises some very interesting issues. And question marks.”

Series creator Chris Carter also talked about the issues they’ll address in the revival series:

“The X-Files ended right after 9/11…A lot has happened since then. A lot of rollback of rights and liberties in the name of our protection. We’re being spied on now, we’re being lied to — all things that, for me, remind me of when I grew up, which was right around Watergate. I think we’re in similar and much more dire times right now.”

Fans may wonder if they will also revive older story lines that have become cult classics, but Chris has something else in mind: “We’re not going to reboot any of the old favorites, although it was something we all thought about…These are all brand new stories. We hope to scare you in brand new ways.”

And we are sure they will, and can’t wait to be spooked again by the amazing sci-fi series! Check out the new images below:
